Posting title Business Engagement Manager - Marketing
Position profile The Business Engagement Management Team is set-up within CN's Information Technology (IT) organization and is reporting directly to the CIO. Business Engagement managers are aligned by CN's Business Function: Operations, Marketing, Corporate, etc… Each Business Engagement Manager play a dual leadership role: for the business function; he is accountable for all IT, for the Information Technology department; he is the voice of the business. CN is seeking to hire an Engagement Manager for its Marketing Corporate portfolio.

This position reports to the Senior Business Engagement Manager – Marketing, Intermodal and Supply Chain.

  • Establish and maintain partnership relationship with Business Function's key stakeholders.
  • Accountable for all IT related initiatives of the Business Function: shaping and planning of new initiatives from 3 year plan, project delivery and application lifecycle management.
  • Responsible to align the IT strategy to the business strategy in the context of industry best practices, of the Corporate Marketing function and current technology trends.
  • Supports the Corporate Marketing function elaborate their 3 year technology plan and to secure required capital for technology related projects.
  • Responsible to support the business in articulating the expected business value achieved by delivering project with technology components and influence delivery to realize value earlier.
  • Act as the main voice and point of contact between IT and the Corporate Marketing function.
  • Liaise with paired IT groups to monitor and communicate business portfolio status:
    • Architecture: identify the gaps between existing capabilities and the future capabilities requested by the business partners.
    • Delivery management: monitor project progression, support steering committee, handle escalation as required, ensure Business Partners engagement.
    • Application management: manage application health, usage, investment in lifecycle, need to decommission.
Skills set:
  • 7+ years of related experience with an experience related to implementing large marketing system in different companies or in consulting services in the fields of IT or Marketing
  • University degree in business fields such as Commerce, Marketing, Process improvement, Business Analysis. Master's degree is considered an asset (MBA, M. Sc. or other)
  • Business knowledge: strong business acumen skills, ability to understand micro / processes level all the way up to macro / strategy / vision
  • Understanding of the Marketing Field is a must
  • Overall understanding of the application of technology supporting the Marketing organization. Experience with CRM technology, Sales automation, Web enabled channels and Mobile technologies.
  • Assertiveness, leadership, problem-solving skills and ability to connect the dots, entrepreneurial spirit, customer focus, results driven, autonomous, strategic thinking, negotiation skills, skilled negotiator, ability to adapt and influence, presentation and facilitation skills, vulgarization, excellent follow-through
  • Bilinguals (French/English) with high proficiency (spoken and written)
  • Leading large Marketing projects including related technologies
  • Experience related to transportation (incl. railways)
