Posting title Sr. Project Manager
Position profile

This role is for managing end-to-end planning and delivery of one or more projects in the area of IT infrastructure and telecommunications. The Project Manager is responsible to meet internal customer expectations while remaining within the approved scope, time and budget and ensuring the delivery of quality products.


  • Develop the project plan, which includes the timeline, budget and resource plans. Resource planning may include acquiring resources (employees and consultants) and developing the team.
  • Perform risk management planning, identification and analysis to define a risk response plan. Monitor and control on a continuous basis.
  • Execute project plan, monitor project progress against project plan and ensure project remains on scope, on time and on budget while ensuring the completeness and quality of all project deliverables (e.g. business requirements, requirements traceability matrix, etc.)
  • Articulate and communicate objectives, requirements, expectations, concepts, issues and progress to the team, senior management and stakeholders. Prepare weekly project status reports and financial reports, including forecasting Year End Outlook (YEO).
  • Identify key project issues/risks and provide leadership to resolve.
  • Proactively manage change requests (i.e. scope, time and/or budgets change requests)
  • Ensure that the change management plan is developed and executed.
  • Define procurement and solicitation plan, if required, jointly with Supply Management. Participate in solicitation and source selection. Administer contracts and manage vendors within the scope of the project.
  • Ensure successful transition of the project deliverables to core support teams.
  • Apply, and ensure compliance with, all appropriate CN IT standards (eg. Security, Architecture, Project Delivery Methodology, SOX, etc.)
  • .Work actively with PMO to improve project management procedures and practice.

Key Deliverables:

  • Project plan, including timeline, budget and resource plans
  • Completed project deliverables
  • Communication and Stakeholder management plan
  • Chair meetings and conference calls as required
  • Weekly project status report and financial report, including YEO
  • Project issue management log, Change request documents
  • Transition deliverables to core support

Skill Set:

  • 7 to 10 years (or 10,000 practical hours) of experience as a Project Manager for large projects with a minimum of 3 years in an IT environment. Expert capabilities in planning, managing work processes and delivery, budgeting and problem solving.
  • PMP Certification or in-depth knowledge of PMI or Prince2 methodologies with the understanding that certification will be required within the first 2 years of hire.
  • Experience in working under pressure in a fast-pace corporate environment, adapting to changing priorities, understanding of business objectives and multi-tasking.
  • Great leadership skills, ability to influence and leverage network to strive consensus towards a target solution that will generate value for the company.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, French and English.
  • Abilily to build collaborative relationships, work in a matrix environment and foster engagement, help team members grow and develop through coaching and constructive feedback.
  • Advanced knowledge of project management tools such as WBSpro, MS Projects, Excel, estimation techniques, EI (Emotional Intelligence)
  • Good communication skills to promote and advocate improved working procedures to other project managers.
