Position profile You want to join a team where the environment is dynamic, having one of the fastest growing at CN, with more than 200 servers and nearly 3000 databases? Here the DBA is changing in a professional setting and in an environment with the cutting edge using the latest versions and features on the market. You will be part of a team of 6 DBA responsible for operations and new projects in the SQL Server platform.

We are currently looking for a talented Senior Database Administrator. The position is a Microsoft SQL Server DBA role largely responsible for providing operational and development support services to the organization. Primary responsibilities of this role include owning, tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests, responding to database related alerts and escalations and working with various departments to create strategic solutions to recurring problems, fulfilling service requests within SLA's, and review service related reports (audits, monitoring, backups, etc.) on a daily basis to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved within established SLA's. Full LIfe Cycle DBA duties are required, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, replication, modeling, and security.


This Microsoft SQL Server DBA Role requires a service oriented mentality, a high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, focus on managing and resolving issues, establishing and maintaining communication with technology customers to keep them updated with the status of their requests, initiating and performing changes on production systems, and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved.

Essentials Functions:

  • 24 x 7 Oncall Support on rotation
  • Monitoring, Maintenance and Administration of production, QA and dev SQL environments and familiar with change request process. Experience with configuring, implementing and supporting all SQL Server services, DB, SSrS, SSiS and SSaS.
  • Expertise with configuring, implementing and supporting large high availability SQL Server environments, including experience with clustering, log shipping, database mirroring and AlwaysOn Availabilty Groups
  • Execute system admin tasks such as daily routine and operational reports analysis
  • Support software developers to provide structure, procedures and functions that meet operational and business requirements.
  • Responsible for automating scripts using PowerShell.
  • Creating and maintaining backup strategy for all servers.
  • Test, validate and implement performance and resource optimization improvements in consultation with other Teams
  • Root cause analysis of production-related database issues
  • Monitor and maintain database security.
  • Participate to Business projects to design, install and configure a new SQL server installations
  • Lead and participate in technical synergy workshops
  • Provide mentoring and technical guidance to other members of the team

Qualifications:

  • 6 years DBA experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2008, 2012 and 2014 in a production environment
  • Experience managing servers in large-scale, geographically diverse environments
  • Deep knowledge of all SQL server services
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with DBA and application teams
  • Experience in a 24X7 production environment
  • Management capabilities
  • Fast troubleshooting and resolution skills
  • Detailed understanding & experience of Windows operating systems, SANs and Networking.
  • Good understanding of virtual environments.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be a team player and able to meet deadline requirements.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Sciences or related IT field.
