Posting title BI Business Objects Developer
Position profile CN's Business Intelligence is a well-established team that supports the business of running a railroad. We work in a fast paced challenging environment to get the right information to our internal clients. BI is responsible for the development, maintenance and publication of key corporate measures and dashboards.

The BI Team is looking for an INTERMEDIATE Business Objects Developer to join us immediately. The successful candidate will work on small or large projects and be responsible for the delivery of high quality BI reporting solutions.

The developer also performs additional functions of requirements gathering, high level quality assurance, responding to project team feedback, and documentation. This position plays a key role in meeting the needs of information extraction and display for both client customers and its internal departments.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • The Reports Developer is a technical resource within the Business Intelligence Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) development team.
  • Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of Microsoft SSRS reports.
  • Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of Business Objects universes (UDT and UNX) and reports.
  • Develop Business Objects Dashboards (Design Studio)
  • Develop and maintain reports & universe design specifications.
  • Perform BO support & administrative tasks (CMS)
  • Develop, maintain and support reports using Business Objects Perform performance monitoring and tuning of reports during application testing and production operations.
  • Document benchmark, procedures best practices needed to optimize performance.
  • Ensure that all guidelines are followed.
  • Establish and implement best practices to ensure data quality and report performance Collaborate with Data Modelers, DBAs and developers in the implementation of BI solution.
  • He/she will participate in data requirements gathering and analysis.
  • Participate in establishing a business intelligence competency centre

  • University degree, or equivalent, with 3-5 years experience in business intelligence
  • Specific job experience in Business Objects UDT/IDT, WebIntelligence, Design Studio, SSRS
  • SSAS & reporting views experience is a definite asset
  • The desired candidate will possess development experience with Business Objects 3 products; experience in Business Objects 4.1 preferred
  • The development of WebIntelligence reports
  • Experience in Tableau, Lumira would be an asset
  • Data mining and predictive modeling is an asset
  • Experience in BO administration (CMS)
  • Knowledge of Data modeling techniques
  • Knowledge of DB2, ORACLE, UDB, Netezza, SQL Server or other database management systems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, English and French
  • Experience working with quality assurance and unit testing.
  • Knowledge of BI tools such as report builders, ad-hoc queries, OLAP, dashboards, business activity monitoring..
  • Familiarity with Business Intelligence (BI) approaches in order to propose ideas and recommendations to support the business/decision makers.
