The Role
The goal of our Workforce Analytics team is to gain insight into our employee population and organization through deep data analysis thereby structuring teams to operate at their most optimal level and establishing and maintaining the processes and programs which enable CN to fully leverage the skills and talents of all our employees.
You will be responsible for core processes of CN's Workforce Analytics team and will participate in key initiatives in areas of analytics process improvement and efficiency. You'll play an integral role in providing the key data and metrics that will help drive key business decisions and shape CN's people strategy.

Key Responsibilities
• Perform open-ended research, ranging from in-depth data analysis to algorithms and statistical methods. Develop actionable, proactive metrics that drive CN's forecasting and planning capabilities but also strategic insights.
• Perform analysis of relevant HR metrics, uncover trends and patterns in the data. Identify methods to study, analyze, and find recommended
solutions to a business problem through data mining, statistical analysis.
• Using predictive analytics determine risks and opportunities in attrition, retention, performance, overtime, recruiting, etc.
• Measure the degree and magnitude of changes in the workforce caused by internal strategies and external environmental factors. Measure the impact of the changes on business results.
• Design and produce regular and ad hoc reports based on selected HR metrics. Partner with key stakeholders to define and influence strategies for consistent workforce related processes, metrics, analysis, and reporting to accomplish business objectives.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytics credentials and that have been put into practice through research, consulting or corporate workforce analytics work experience. The successful candidate needs to be intellectually curious, a continuous learner, and be adept with systems and technology. The candidate can work independently with minimal supervision but high accountability.
• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in quantitative discipline such as Engineering, Finance, Statistics, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Economics). Advanced degree preferred;
• Expert-level usage of Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint and data visualization. Familiarity with SAP a plus;
• Ability to translate complex data analysis and research principles into terms that can be understood by a broader audience. Skilled at manipulating and managing large, complex databases, spreadsheets and queries and generating organizational metrics to assist with business decisions.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate analytics to a non-technical audience.
• Significant business and/or financial acumen. Experience in a fast-moving, results-oriented environment.
