How do I create an account?
There are two ways to create an account:
1.By clicking on the Create account link on the top right of the page.
OR
2.Through a specific job you are interested in applying for (if you have not created an account yet, our system will ask you to do so before you can submit your application).
Both options will take you to the home page. Once there, fill out all the required fields to create your password, after which you will be able to upload your resume and any other relevant information. Once your account has been created, you can apply for the jobs of your choice.
What should I do if I forgot my password?
Click on Login at the top right of the page. Enter your email address and click on the Forgot your password? link. You will receive an email with instructions on how to re-set your password.
How do I search for current job openings?
Our search tool enables you to search for all current job openings, either by listing them or by showing them on the map. There are four different ways to search for jobs.
1. Featured jobs
You can view the most recent jobs on the left side of the main page under the heading Featured jobs. Click on any job posting title to view the job description.
2. Search
On the bottom left, fill out the search criteria box for the jobs you are looking for, then click on the Search button. Click on the More options section to find additional search criteria. Your search results will appear on the map.
3. Map view
Navigate on the map to search within it. The numbers represent the number of jobs available in a specific area. Click on any number to view the available jobs. The + and – signs allow you to zoom in/out of the map. The person icon allows you to have a street view of a particular job location.
When opening a job description from the map view, there are four tabs in which you can view information and pictures that relate to the jobs.
4. List view
Click on List to view the list of jobs that are available. Click on the title of a job to view the job description.
5. Share a job with a friend
You have the option to use Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter or send an email if you wish to share job postings with friends.
How do I apply to current job openings?
Click on the Apply button associated to the job posting of your interest. You will then be directed to our login page, where you will be prompted to enter your login information or to create an account if you have not done so yet. Once you have logged in or created an account, you can apply for the jobs of your choice. When applying for a job, please complete all the application questions and click on Submit. Please do not forget to upload a resume/CV.

How do I know you have received my application?
The CN Recruitment Team will send you an email confirmation that your application has been submitted successfully. Should you be considered for a job, you will be contacted by a member of our recruitment team.
How can I confirm that you have my most current resume/CV on file?
You can confirm that we have your most current resume/CV on file by first logging into your account and than click on the Resume/CV Manager link.
Can I send in my resume/CV through the mail (postal), fax, email or fill out an employment application form instead of creating an account online?
We do not accept paper applications or resumes by email. You must apply directly online for any jobs that match your interests and skill set.
How can I update my account information?
You can update your account information by logging into your account, and on the home page, click on the Edit your profile link.To make edits/changes, click on the various tabs (Contact Information, Education, Work History, Attachments). When finished, click on Save.
How can I add references, certificates or other relevant documents to my account?
You can attach additional documents within your account by logging into your account, andon the home page, click on the Edit your profile link. Click on the Attachments tab and upload your document. When finished, click on Save.
I do not see positions in my city, how can I apply for a job?
We are constantly looking for new talent. Make sure you sign up for our job alerts, at the top left of the page, so you know about new job openings that match your search criteria.
Job Alerts will send an email notifying you of new job openings based on the criteria and/or a specific location you have set up the job alert for.

2) After entering your email address, select the criteria you would like to receive a Job Alert for and click on Submit.
3) To make edits to your existing Job Alert, click on the orange circle.
How can I find information about the salaries associated with different positions?
If the salary does not appear on the job description, we recommend inquiring during an interview session if you are selected for one.
I have seen a job posting advertized and I can not find it on your website. Can I still apply?
If you do not see the job posting on the CN career website, the job posting is not available to submit an application at the moment. Signing up to our job alerts, at the top left of the page, will ensure you are notified whenever a job matching your search criteria becomes available.

How can a co-op student apply for an internship at CN?
If you are in a co-op program and are interested in doing a work session at CN, we invite you to speak to the department responsible for work sessions at your school. We are in contact with various schools every term. They receive job descriptions for each of the openings to be filled. You can apply for those that are of most interest to you. Your institution will send the students' applications to us.
How can I check my application status online?
You can check your application status online by logging into your account and than click on the Job Submission Status link.
What are the next steps after I have applied to a job?
If you are being considered for a job, you will be contacted by the CN Recruitment Team. Make sure you check your email, voicemail and application status on your account regularly to ensure you do not miss out on any next steps.
I have completed an interview and various tests, when will I find out about the results and the next steps to be taken?

I have accidently clicked on the withdrawn button while applying for a job, should I re-apply for the job?
No,you do not need to re-apply. Simply click on the Reactivate button.
I am interested in a conductor position, will taking conductor training courses better my chances of being accepted?
While some schools do offer conductor training courses, it is not a requirement. In fact successful completion of the conductor course at one of these schools does not mean an exemption from CN training. If you do take this career path, successful completion can be an edge at the hiring point if you meet all the hiring criteria.
