Melville, SK

Melville is located in the south east portion of Saskatchewan. The city is 145 kms north east of Regina. 



In 2011, the population was a little over 4,500, which makes it the smallest official city in Saskatchewan.  The age average is 46.



Being in the centre of Canada, Saskatchewan is far removed from the moderating effects of any large body of water and therefore has a temperate continental climate. Hot to warm summers and cold winters, Saskatchewan has on average 211 days per year when the temperature drops below freezing.  Compared to other provinces, Saskatchewan is the sunniest province, has the second lowest annual snowfall, and the second hottest summer.  Melville shares central time with the province.

Education - Daycare centers, Schools and College

There is one pre-school, three elementary schools, two high schools and one college.  Melville is served by public and Catholic schools, with French immersion: École St. Henry's Junior Elementary School, and St. Henry's Sr School are both part of the Christ the Teacher Catholic School Division, and the Melville Comprehensive School, part of the Good Spirit School Division, provides secondary education.  The Parkland Regional College provides post secondary technical training and operates a branch school out of the Melville Comprehensive High School building.  The Carlton Regional College Basic Education is located in Lestock.


Health Care

St. Peter's Hospital is a 30 bed, acute care hospital located off Highway #10.


Sports and Leisure 

There are numerous activities for the whole family including library, parks, two museums, minor baseball, football and hockey leagues, as well as figure skating, speed skating, batting cages, and a swimming pool.  A convention centre and arena is under construction and will offer a new 1,700 seat ice arena, fitness and cardio care facilities, and a walking track.  The city also has an 18-hole golf course.
