Our Network

CN is North America’s railroad. With 5 ocean ports, 19 intermodal terminals and 34,000 km of track, our trains reach more than 75% of the American population and all major Canadian markets. Our international logistics services enable shipping as far as Mexico, South America and Asia.

Our rail network is divided into three regions: East, West and South.

Eastern Region
Stretching from Ontario to the Maritime provinces, the Eastern region is also home to CN’s headquarters and administrative offices in Montreal, Quebec.
2 ocean ports (Montreal, Halifax)
5 Intermodal terminals

Western Region
Including the Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, the Western region is comprised of diverse landscape and varying climates. From the great Rocky Mountains to the Canadian Prairies, and all the way into the Northwest Territories, CN reaches even the most remote areas to move freight across the country and directly to Asia.
2 ocean ports (Vancouver, Prince Rupert)
7 Intermodal terminals

Southern Region
Reaching from the Canadian border south to Louisiana, the Southern region encompasses our network in the United States. With direct access to Mexico and South America, CN is the only transborder railroad on the continent.
1 ocean port (New Orleans)
11 Intermodal terminals
